Mae Aur (b. 1988) is a multidisciplinary artist from the American South, raised in a Brazilian-Lebanese and British household. She currently lives and works in Washington State.

Aur’s practice has encompassed metal, clay, costume, performance, and sculpture. Since 2010, she has developed a distinctive body of hand cut and painted wood works that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. Through color, symbolic imagery, and dreamlike forms, her work explores relationships to self and others, femininity, and the intersections between physical, emotional, and spiritual experience.

Aur’s work has been exhibited nationally, including at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, LSU Museum of Art, the Dixon Gallery and Gardens in Memphis, Marrow Gallery in San Francisco, and Martine Chaisson Gallery in New Orleans. In 2025, Aur’s work was the focus of a solo presentation by Marrow Gallery at The Armory Show in New York.

Her work is held in the permanent collection of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
